Legacy Lake originated from what was the Boiling Springs Creek Watershed Project, Dam #1, Latimer County, Oklahoma. The lake, constructed in 1973 under the U.S. Department of Agriculture Watershed Protection and Flood Prevention Act, has an elevation of 751 ft., a surface area of 25 acres and is 20 ft. deep at its lowest point. The family owned property surrounding the lake as depicted by the green boundary in the photo, extends 1.1 miles across by .58 miles wide covering an area of 368 acres. Most of the terrain is densely wooded and has never been explored. The lake is fed by artesian springs which also feed the clear rock lined, wading pool near the Lodge. Lake water clarity varies due to natural rainfall but the water quality is very good and is home to a variety of fish such as bluegill, sunfish, catfish, crappie and bass.
